Summary
I am an experienced Security Cleared Commercial and Strategy Consultant and have operated, primarily in the Defence and Security sectors for circa thirty years. I began my career with BAE Systems where I held a number of commercial and procurement roles in the Aerospace sector.
Since 2000 as Director and Lead Consultant of Iconoclast I have supported central government customers, prime contractors and SME in the fields of Commercial Management, Business Change, Innovation, Procurement Policy and Strategy Development. My experience before Iconoclast was predominantly in the Defence sector but recently I have also worked in the Security, Emergency Services and Rail sector.
My most recent assignment has been as the Commercial Manager and Partnership Lead for the Home Office funded Bluelightworks programme. Bluelightworks is a BS11000 (now ISO44001) Collaborative Business Relationship approved programme providing evidence based decision support to the Home Office, policing and security agencies. In this role I was responsible for the customer commercial relationships and leading the 120 strong industry partnership supporting the programme. I was also the relationship manager for the programme and a member of the Bluelightworks Partnership Steering Board. The Bluelightworks programme won the Institute of Collaborative Working 2015 Chairman’s achievement award and in 2016 were shortlisted for the CIPS Supply Management awards.
Iconoclast as an organisation specialises in providing consultancy to large organisations and government customers. In addition to my most recent role we have delivered a number of projects including managing capability delivery programmes, building bid teams and solutions, developing acquisition strategies and commercial solutions in complex environments. Due to the variety of assignments and roles undertaken I have been able to maintain my range of skills including drafting of contracts and supply agreements, developing business winning strategies, and managing relationships to ensure successful delivery of programmes and enabling innovation. I have also developed commercial models for innovation programmes investing in SME both in the cyber security and rail sectors.
I am motivated and enthusiastic with excellent communication skills and have extensive experience of working with government customers, prime contractors, offshore suppliers, SME and academia.
As a graduate MBA and qualified to CIPS I am well versed in delivering and assuring projects to develop and provide solutions in complex and dynamic environments. I also believe that I have a good understanding and appreciation of the processes, disciplines and culture of government customers and large corporate organisations whilst having the experience of being an SME with the different challenges that brings.
