Summary
After 15 years working half the week in London, I'm easing work activities closer to home and developing a more local network in the North West.
I've run or owned PR and communications-related agencies since stepping out of journalism in the 1980s. PressRelations is part of Desired-Outcome Consulting. PressRelations does what it says; Desired-Outcome manages messaging in much wider environments, contributes towards defining business strategy, and does not only involve media contact.
I'll often go in to take a brief as part of a project to change or grow a business, but come out having helped the client redefine it.
In parallel with my agency activities, I was PR to billionaire John Caudwell - founder of Phones 4u, and now a leading philanthropist - for more than 20 years; I've also worked with Bruce Dickinson, singer with rock band Iron Maiden, on his non-music activities for 15 years, and for several years with UK Pensions Minister Baroness Dr Ros Altmann. I worked with the investors in car insurance telematics pioneer Coverbox for ten years, and currently work with both investors and investment-seekers.
Past clients include, in the UK, Barclays Bank, Manchester United, England Rugby Union, Saga, BMW, Enterprise Inns plc, Grand Met, Phones 4u, Unipart, Lufthansa, Icelandair, Marks & Spencer Financial Services amongst many.
I'm also involved in image protection and crisis communications, plus litigation support activities, as well as political PR at central government level. I've worked with the US Department for Homeland Security, and the Irish Government's Department for Environment, Community and Local Government.

Interests and Hobbies
I used to race cars, and occasionally instruct on racetracks. I switch off by tinkering with my Ducati, visiting the renovators of a classic car under restoration, engaging in endless DIY in my 1750s home, or hitting the gym. Although it must be said, that my type of work provides endless entertainment - sometimes enjoyable at the time, sometimes only once it has been concluded.
