Area of Expertise
Our Physiotherapists are highly skilled clinical professionals specialising in the accurate diagnosis of patients’ problems through systematic questioning, hands-on assessment techniques, assessment tools, digital video analysis (where appropriate) and most importantly the overall bio-mechanics of the individual.
Sports/General Injury Management: we are specialists in diagnostic and rehabilitative management of all musculoskeletal conditions, and have access to specialist rehab facility, which is second to none which we feel are essential to maximise the quality and speed of your return from injury.
Biomechanical Analysis and Intervention: with or without high quality video analysis; including gait analysis, sport specific analysis and ergonomic assessment.
Clinical APPI Pilates: We are recognised experts in this highly specialised form of Pilates emphasising the quality of movement and correction of any dysfunction following thorough assessment. Our clinical staff and Pilates Consultants at Therapy-First have all trained with highly reputable APPI Pilates, ensuring the highest possible standard of care including APPI and Body Control Pilates.
Expert Manual Therapy: we are specially trained to provide expert mobilisation and manipulation where required within a complete rehabilitative programme. Manual Therapy techniques used to reduce pain, improve impairments of tissue, facilitate movement, increase range of movement and improve function.
Acupuncture: Acupuncture is one of the longest established forms of healthcare in the world. Acupuncturists are trained to use subtle diagnostic techniques that have been developed and refined for thousands of years. At Therapy-First we have specialists in the use of acupuncture, as an extremely useful adjunct to the rehabilitation process. Our focus is on you as an individual, not your illness, and all symptoms are seen in relation to each other. Treatment involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body to affect the flow of your body’s qi, or vital energy.
Therapeutic Ultrasound: We incorporate the use of therapeutic ultrasound where necessary, as part of a comprehensive rehabilitative regime. Ultrasound can produce many effects other than just the potential heating effect. It has been shown to cause increases in tissue relaxation, local blood flow, and scar tissue breakdown. The effect of the increase in local blood flow can be used to help reduce local swelling and chronic inflammation, and, according to some studies, promote bone fracture healing.
DSE Workplace Assessment: Therapy FirstPhysiotherapy deliver Workstation Assessment and advice for individuals and companies with employees who are suffering with particular work-related conditions (such as RSI, Back, Back Pain, Joint Pain) or returning to work following time off work a related condition or spinal injury.
