2024 The Year For Change?

The start of a new year seems to bring round a sense of excitement and motivation. Ideas for change, be that be personal or within your business seem to be at the forefront.

If you are looking to implement change within your organisation, then it is paramount you prepare and plan accordingly to ensure success and longevity.

One way to manage change is by using the ADKAR Change Model, this model is purposefully designed to help you navigate change. It breaks the change process down into 5 stages;

  • Awareness: Identifying that there is a need for change.
  • Desire: Gather support and participation, address any fears and concerns.
  • Knowledge:  Focus on providing the required training, resources, and information. Giving your employees the skills required.
  • Ability: Building on knowledge, the ability stage is about helping individuals acquire the practical skills and capabilities required to implement the change successfully. This often involves hands-on training, coaching, and support to ensure that individuals can effectively carry out their roles in the new state.
  • Reinforcement: The final stage of ADKAR focuses on sustaining the change. It involves reinforcing the new behaviours, processes, and ways of working to ensure they become ingrained in your organisations culture. Recognise and celebrate success. Provide ongoing support, and address any issues that arise are crucial elements of the reinforcement stage.

The ADKAR model offers a practical and human-centric approach to change management, It can help you navigate the complexities of change by focusing on the people who make it happen….. your employees!!
