𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗜 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀?
That was the question a senior leader asked me after we talked through their 360 feedback.
- Their team respected their drive and depth of knowledge.
- But junior members found them intimidating.
- Not intentionally. Just… unapproachable.
What do you do when you first walk into the office, when on site or when you dial into a meeting?' I asked them. They looked confused. So, I dug deeper.
Turns out, they’d walk straight past the team when on site, heading into client meetings. Totally engrossed in their work. Then...👇
- Back-to-back calls.
- No check-ins. No small moments.
- On video calls, it was the same.
- Dive in. Deliver. Drop off.
Sound familiar?
We explored what it means to feel available and approachable to others. I asked:
What signals safety in your presence?
How do you show curiosity, not just competence?
The shift wasn’t dramatic.
But it was intentional.
And it changed how the team experienced them as a leader.
For the better.
Do you need a shift like this in your workplace? Leadship that needs to be more connected?
