We all like it when something sounds like exactly what we’re looking for and in SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) it’s starting to get a bit boring to hear the same empty promises from countless SEO companies – and they expect you to know who to choose. It’s no secret that a lot of people don’t trust SEO companies and usually opt to spend the money that they could use to help build an online presence on offline marketing, usually abandoning most hopes to build themselves as a company on the World Wide Web. This in itself is bad for a business’s survival and people need to realise this.
“We can guarantee everything you want”
It sounds too good to be true doesn’t it? I mean £9.99 per month for first page rankings on Google, the “hub of marketing”. It’s here that I will reference possibly the greatest piece of advice my dad ever gave me, “If something sounds too good to be true, it usually is”. Remember that when you contact multiple SEO companies and the vast majority promise you the world. SEO's understand you will do anything to be at the top of Google, and they play on that, it’s what a lot of them are taught.
Not every company is corrupt
Obviously, my aim isn’t to get you to think all SEO companies are corrupt because there are a lot of legitimate online marketing businesses out there. Businesses who aren’t afraid to take the blame if things do not go to plan, who aren’t afraid to work whatever it takes to get your site ranked and who understand SEO isn’t just a 9-5 job. A big indicator to me that an SEO company is corrupt is if they promise absolutely guaranteed first page rankings for a horrendously low price.
How to recognise a good SEO company
Now you’re probably wondering what the other side of this is, such as how to know an SEO company can be trusted. Well I’ll simply highlight what I’d look for from an SEO company and give you my points as a bit of guidance. I would look for a company that can’t promise the world but can provide evidence and examples why (i.e Google Algorithms). I would look for a company, not that overcharges, that charges more than low-quality companies and can provide examples of what would happen with your money. Finally, I would choose a company that can prove themselves to a customer in a seconds notice with examples of their work, unless they respect their clients privacy as that would make me respect them even more based on the other two points.
